Verificator®: Ensuring Reliable Sensor Performance

The SpiroNose utilizes selected metal-oxide semiconductor (MOS) sensors, designed for a long operational lifespan of 3-5 years. However, continuous monitoring of sensor performance remains essential. While the BreathBase® platform includes several built-in controls for ongoing performance checks, verifying sensor functionality with a Quality Control (QC) gas adds an extra layer of precision. This verification process typically occurs every one to three months during research, depending on usage frequency.

Quality Control gas is stored in compact, portable canisters, allowing verification to be conducted at any location. Using a specialized attachment called the Verificator®, the gas is directed precisely over each sensor in the SpiroNose®, enabling a comprehensive performance check. Quality control is fully automated through our BreathBase® platform, and if sensor drift is detected, a new calibreated set of sensors is provided to maintain diagnostic precision. This rigorous process ensures the SpiroNose® consistently provides reliable and accurate breath analysis data for research and clinical applications.
