Breathomix Team

Breathomix is a Dutch SME founded in June 2018 with the ambition to transform the way patients with respiratory diseases such as asthma, COPD and lung cancer are diagnosed and managed by bringing the innovative BreathBase Solution to point-of-care. During the past 15 years, Peter Sterk’s group at the Amsterdam University Medical Centres has developed and successfully validated exhaled breath technologies for the molecular classification of patients with cancer, inflammatory and infectious diseases. With a background in technical medicine and a specialization in signal analysis, Rianne de Vries developed the proprietary analysis software of the BreathBase Platform which is linked to the SpiroNose. Breathomix consists of a team with over 25 years of combined experience in the field of breathomics, cloud applications, IoT solutions and AI. It is our strong conviction that with our multi-disciplinary team and carefully selected technology partners we can bring exhaled breath analysis from a research setting to the patient.

Peter Sterk

Peter Sterk

Scientific Adviser

Prof. Peter Sterk, MD, PhD, has a background in clinical respiratory physiology and is focusing on a systems medicine approach to link complex biology to clinical management of disease. He has launched exhaled breath analysis by eNose in various clinical settings during the past decade. His primary interest is phenotyping of chronic airways diseases, in which eNose analysis has been validated for diagnostic purposes and for subclassification of patients. This enables the identification of responders to existing and new treatments (biologicals). In this way he is contributing to the dissemination of Data Driven Medicine at point of care.
